In this edition of the "Dissenter Weekly," host Kevin Gosztola focuses on the Fox News network's push for leak prosecutions against media sources at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Homeland Security Department (DHS). The network is furious that details about ICE raids are being shared with the press before agents conduct the raids.
At least two shows—"Fox & Friends" and "The Ingraham Angle"—aired segments that went further. They expressed support for the Justice Department (DOJ) prosecuting D.C.-based reporter Pablo Manríquez, who publishes Migrant Insider. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem subsequently referred two unnamed individuals to the DOJ for prosecution.
Headlines this week include fired U.S. whistleblower agency chief Hampton Dellinger giving up his legal battle and the Maryland attorney general proposing a bill that would allow lawsuits against record requesters.
